Rot and Ruin, in my opinion was a great book. Its is about a zombies apocalypse, but its not a average zombie book. Most books with flesh eating people that have risen from the grave, the main enemies are not other survivors. In this book that is the case. It takes place in a California wasteland. The main character is a teenager named Benny, and his only family is his older half-brother. He is about to turn 16 and he has to find a job in a barricaded town full of survivors. There's many jobs but all seem to boring for benny. He looks at a different type of job, bounty hunting. Bounty hunters get paid to kill zombies or to clear out towns or even escort people safely. Benny sees bounty hunters as extremely awesome men, and wants to be just like them, until two of his idol bounty hunters kidnap his best friend and kill her mom. Benny realize how evil people can be, and that their worst than zombies. Zombies cant control themselves which makes people the real enemy. The author did a great job with the character and had a great plot. It had real life teenager feelings, and real life problems. It was very suspenseful and keep me glued in the pages. The ending was incredible, it wasn't a happy fairly tale ending ,but it was well written.
